Detail
Overview: The grapes are from a 4 acre block within the Beckstoffer Vineyard Georges III. The soils are bale, clay loam with gravel. The vines are 22 years on average, with Clonal Selection of 4, 337 and 7. Historical records show that a portion of this vineyard was planted in 1895 by Mrs. Thomas Rutherford. This 300-acre parcel first purchased by Beaulieu founder Georges de Latour in 1928 and called Beaulieu Vineyard Number 3, was the home to BV’s Rutherford Cabernets made by the renowned winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff. The vineyard was purchased by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 1988. In 2009, 181 acres were placed under a land conservation easement that forever prohibits non-agricultural development.Hand sorted, fully destemmed grapes. Small, closed fermenters with both native and select Bordeaux yeast isolates are used. Malolactic fermentation in barrel, with total 24 months aging, in 100% new French Oak. Each bottle is individually numbered.Tasting Notes: Complex aromas with black cherry, vanilla, sage, blueberry, and roasted notes, the wine reveals layers of silky, refined tannins and a firm structure. Dark fruit layers over a harmonious and balanced palate creating a seamless and age worthy wine. This vineyard and clonal selection imparts opulence, intensity, structure, complexity. This is considered the king of Cabernets.Pairing:Beef and venisonPoints:93, Wine EnthusiastFormat/ABV: 750 ml/14.30%In certain circumstances, a specific vintage may not be available.
