Quite delicate and smooth texture on the long finish.Reviews:Wine Enthusiast: Shea scores again with a luscious, toasty, palate-coating wine that way overdelivers for the price. Estate grown at one of the top vineyards in Oregon, this lovely wine melds caramel, apple, melon and light tropical fruit in a delicious and full-bodied wine whose components are perfectly matched. Mostly barrel fermented but blended with a percentage done in concrete egg, it's graceful, sappy and long.James Suckling: A complex, fresh style with lemons and white peaches, as well as nectarines and pastry. The palate has a vibrant, enlivened feel with impressive focus and acidity cut through attractive, ripe orchard fruit.Producer InformationShea Wine Cellars is a wine producer located in the Yamhill-Carlton District AVA in Oregon's Willamette Valley. It specializes in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines, as well as selling fruit from the Shea Vineyard to other wineries in the area. The 155-acre (62-hectare) Shea vineyard was planted by Dick and Deirdre Shea in the late 1980s. The wider site covers 290 acres (120 hectares) on the hills southwest of Portland, Oregon. Here, the sedimentary sandstone soils and the cool maritime climate provide excellent growing conditions for Pinot Noir, which makes up the bulk of plantings. Pinot clones on the site include Pommard, Wdenswil, Dijon 114, 115 and 777. Chardonnay is covered by two clones: 76 and 95. Today, just under a quarter of the Shea Vineyard yield goes into the Shea label wines. The remaining fruit is sold to local wine producers, including the likes of Bergstrm and Ancien Wines. The winery is dedicated to limited production, and makes around 5000 cases of Pinot Noir which are bottled under numerous labels. Shea Cellars also produces several hundred cases of Chardonnay. There are a number of premium wines from various blocks around the vineyard, including the Homer Pinot Noir and the Block 23 Pinot Noir. On top of this, Shea makes an estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from fruit sourced from throughout the vineyard. Shea Wine Cellars has been well received in the press, garnering top scores and favorable reviews throughout its existence. Despite the high quality and positive critical reception of its wines, Shea Wine Cellars' prices remain moderate.
