It is made up of whiskies that Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno of the Macallan selected from 16 distinct types of Sherry casks. First-fill casks, which make up a large majority of these barrels, produce a rich, spicy Speyside single malt that is brimming with flavors of honeyed raisins, root ginger, and creamy chocolate.Orange, sultana, and raisins with their understated but all-pervasive sweetness are heralded on the mouth by a rush of ginger, nutmeg, and resin. There is a faint clove scent, but oak is clearly the master.
