Overview:Bill Wathen and Dick Doré, also known as the "Foxen Boys", have been making wine together since 1985 when they founded Foxen on the historic Rancho Tinaquaic in northern Santa Barbara County. Since that time, their dedication has remained the same - the creation of small production, sustainably-farmed, vineyard-focused wines using a minimalist approach to winemaking.Foxen's first vintage was in 1985, made in the old blacksmith shop on the ranch. This building, now known fondly as "The Shack", and the accompanying barn were Foxen's winery and tasting room for over 20 years. With the completion of Foxen's solar-powered winery and tasting room in 2009, the historic and beloved "Shack" was renamed foxen 7200, where we feature our Bordeaux and Italian varieties under a brand of the same name. Our Burgundy, Rhne, and Loire varieties are showcased in the solar-powered FOXEN tasting room just down the road.Tasting Notes: Layers and complexity, with beautiful spiced raspberry fruits, crushed flowers, flowery incense, orange blossom, and subtle oak aromas and flavors. Polished, medium-bodied, and nicely balanced with silky tannins.Pairing:Butterflied lamb, chargrilled steak, venison. Dishes like cassoulet or duck with olives if they're more rustic. Roast goose.Points: 92,Jeb DunnuckFormat / ABV:750 ml/13.6% In certain circumstances, a specific vintage may not be available.
