Viticulture has been practiced for eight generations and the current top position of Bachtobler wines is due to the constant striving for the highest quality. We cultivate our vineyards according to Bio Suisse guidelines. The former seat of the Barons von Oberboltshausen is located halfway between the Thurtal and the Ottenberg. Today, as at the time of purchase, the property still includes the buildings recorded in the purchase deed from 1784 as follows: "1 stately castle with cellar, barn, stables, wash house and good well, 1 Schopf, 2 houses with cellars and stables, 1 Torggel. Over the last 30 years, the property has also been expanded to include a modern wine cellar, a machine shop and the expansion of the barn. The castle, outbuildings and utility buildings have always been well maintained and Bachtobel is now a unique building group in Thurgau, which is characterized by its authenticity and is largely protected. The use of the historic buildings has been adapted to current needs and, for example, the pretty Biedermeier palace is available to external guests for selected occasions. Almost six hectares of vineyards extend up the slopes of the Ottenberg and above there are 13 hectares of forest, the wood chips from which are used to heat the castle estate's buildings in a CO2-neutral manner.
